RIMIDI : THE DOPAMINE COLLECTION VOL. 1

Dopamine

If you’ve been riding the “Janelle Monáe & Prince” train lately you don’t wanna miss out on this extremely talented musical gem RIMIDI and her latest album release, THE DOPAMINE COLLECTION VOL. 1. Electronic splashes of psychedelic alternative soul take you on a roll in a creation created and based upon the chemical that inspires us to create: DOPAMINE!
RIMIDI has an ageless sound, a real vibe and her own unique diversity of style that makes her music captivating and fun to listen to. You eagerly anticipate her next melodic gambado, left pleasantly surprised each time she lands it home, right where the heart is, with notes that blues her tunes.

Here’s a teaser video to start with and below, some words from RIMIDI herself on her inspirations, aspirations and the spiritual connection she holds with her music. When asked for her favorite quote, she wrote,  “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” ― Bernard M. Baruch

FEATURE INTERVIEW

523553_10151891808587349_1673614904_nRIMIDI! SWEET NAME! WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Thank you. RIMIDI is actually a name that was given to me by a fan who was listening to some of my music long before becoming RIMIDI. He told me that I was the “remedy”, meaning, I was what music needed. Somehow it stuck. I’ve used it ever since but changed out the spelling to make it more fitting.

WHAT DOES YOUR MUSIC STAND FOR + WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
My purpose is to create music that evokes personal feelings and emotions that leads to a more in tuned being. It stands for self-innovation and realness. Life, my spirituality and the ongoing growth inspires me. My music represents who I am and what I am becoming. It stands for self-innovation and truth. Life, my spirituality and the ongoing process of growth inspires me – the beauty of knowing that I can and will inspire others.

“My music represents who I am and what I am becoming.”

RIMIDI WE’VE LISTENED TO YOUR ARTWORK OF AN ALBUM – COULD YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT THE STORY BEHIND THE CREATION OF, “THE DOPAMINE COLLECTION VOL. 1”?
THE DOPAMINE COLLECTION VOL. 1 is an album that was created as a very personal reflection of myself, where I am, and where I want to be in terms of life and in music. Its purpose is to challenge me to use my talent and music for the greater good and to get deeper into myself. It will be a collection of albums, this one being the first, that will play on the same chemical, DOPAMINE, that is released into the body after experiencing pleasure or excitement, hence its name.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON & WHAT’S COMING UP NEXT ?
As of now, I am creating visuals for the first volume which was just recently released. Additionally, the creative process has already begun with producer and artist, Forrest Darden, to create the second volume of THE DOPAMINE COLLECTION.

“I was inspired from the music itself – what it said to me as I listened so I just picked up a pen to write to it and those feelings poured out.”

WE’RE DIGGING “PRETEND”! CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT THE LYRICS?
Although I love all of the songs on the album, Pretend is also my most admired song from this project. It’s so fun and so free. To be honest, I was inspired from the music itself – what it said to me as I listened so I just picked up a pen to write to it and those feelings poured out. It explains what it feels like to have feelings for someone but to also hold them back for whatever reason including fear. It’s the way it’s feels to have someone on your mind countless hours of the day, the internal emotional battle, but you never confess it. Everyone can relate.

Based in Miami, FL, RIMIDI has been an active participant in Miami’s local music scene for some time and most notably performs with the South Florida musical collective known as the ‘Anti-Robot Society’. Additionally, she’s most recently known for putting on her annual event, “Love Life Music & Arts Festival” and releasing her debut album “Stone Cold” which she had diligently worked in the studio with award winning and platinum selling producer, The Fabulous Moonshyne Brown, to finalize the unique musical gem. She’s been writing and performing music for most of her life and has been heard singing on Slim Thug’s song, “Movie”, from his album Tha Thug Show.

FINESSE’ STRIKES A CHORD W/ STYLIN’

Finesse WCAIt’s not everyday that you come across a 16yr old rapper and when you do, you can’t help but expect for their tracks to imitate the rhetoric and tunage that over-saturates our radio-waves today – phat catchy beats with tasteless lyrics governed by materialism, sex and violence. Now turn all that around, remove all stereotypes, keep the phat catchy beats and you’ve got a lyrical mastermind, a musical humanitarian, a 16yr old with a vision and a gift. Trey Nelson aka FINESSE’ from St. Helena, SC , promises to change the rap game by throwing tracks back to the days when rappers empowered society through music. Say what?

“I started making music for others that like music with substance and conscious thought. I’m 16 years of age, started last year when I released my project Persona: Legend of Wolfay, which showcased a poetic ability to describe my personality as well as my philosophy of ROM which stands for Romulus Overtaking Metropolis. What that means is that the traditional method of soul in hip-hop can overtake this mechanical music on the radio driven by drugs, no-emotion, and money”.

At a young age FINESSE’ delved into poetry and writing so rapping came naturally. His music promotes the idea that knowledge is power and words have weight. He states that it’s all about enlightenment when you are in his presence and listening to his music – He aims to spit wisdom and reveal truths by taking you on a moral merry-go-round: a visually descriptive and mentally stimulating poetic collage of fates and realities emerge through his rhymes, yet he keeps the fun and the positivity factor high with a natural light chorus. Check out, download and share the buzz-track “Stylin” by FINESSE and make sure to look out for his upcoming album, Ultima Thule, release date September 19th, 2013.

TREMAINE MAURICE “I WANT YOU TO BE”

photo

Tremaine Maurice is a soul of many sounds and this tune is clear evidence of that fact. “I Want You To Be” features poetic lyricism and memorable melodies  – The song is 9.02 minutes long but don’t let that stop you from pressing play – we promise you’ll get lost in the trance-like nature of Tre’s voice and soothing tones. With evident influences coming from his meditational nature which plays a significant role in his compositional work – the song Tre produced takes on rhythmic patterns insulated with hums and whispers that build and pulse like ancient drum circles. “I Want You To Be” is an emotional roller-coaster ride of a track that will have you snapping your fingers and feeling 100% by the time those 9 minutes are up. Do yourself a favor and put a smile on your face – Have a listen!

MELISSA LAVEAUX SHARES “POSTMAN”

“In losing the cheque that would pay for her piano courses, a 6 year old Mélissa Laveaux forged herself quite the destiny. She eventually became a self-taught musician, by ear and through books. Thankfully, her mother has a liking for French singer-songwriters and Haitian big band jazz during long sessions of hair braiding. While her father, a guitarist in his downtime, spontaneously offers her a guitar in the summer of her 13th year…” Continue to read Melissa’s full bio at Last FM while listening to some of her tunes and check out this simply divine music video by Melissa Laveaux performing “Postman” off the new album Dying Is A Wild Night. SECRET ROCK PROJECT : BODHIZAFA

JM LIVE

Joe Marson is a soulful singer/songwriter who combines wisdom and wit with lyrical guitar playing. Following a six-year, soul-searching journey across the United States (playing hip hop in Oregon, jazz in Boston, folk songs in Arizona, and blues-rock in Austin, Texas), Marson now lives in beautiful Brooklyn.

After creating a loud buzz around the city, Joe Marson and the Satisfied Mind recorded its new EP Someday Soon with local legend, Jimi Zhivago (Norah Jones, Ollabelle), at East One Studios. The breakthrough record features four soaring new songs as well as four Marson classics, re-recorded to new sonic heights. The group continues to move audiences with their acoustic/electric performances all over the East Coast.

The most recent development? Joe Marson has been working on a “secret rock project“, by the name of Bodhizafa playing shows all over New York and not telling anyone. He comments, “I know, I’m sorry, but we wanted to cut our teeth showing ya! Hint: it’s like Jimi Hendrix meets the Black Keys!”. – Catch Bodhizafa on May 30th, 2013 in NYC  at Rockwood Music Hall – 196 Allen St, New York, New York 10002.

A typical Joe Marson show starts off atypically. With a four piece band of keys, bass, drums, and Joe on guitar, everyone ready to go, Marson chooses to go a cappella. With a Bobby Mcferrin-esque beat box, his vocals simulating the bass, slapping his chest for rhythm, he slides into a verse – Thinking about your body, thinking about your face – slyly moving from deep down to sweet falsetto. Marson wastes no time demonstrating his originality and fearlessness as an artist, eager to take his audience to unexpected places. Below you can listen to a live take of “God Damn It Julia”, one of our favorites from the “Someday Soon” EP.

As you would expect, the band is not just there for show. Transitioning from the a cappella introduction, Joe Marson & the Satisfied Mind takes you on a musical journey that ranges from acoustic soul to alternative rock. Through every dynamic curve and twist, Joe maintains a musical coherence. It’s a soulfulness that comes naturally to him and a sense of authenticity that transcends any musical genre. What you have before you is a true labor of love, sweat, and soul.
